‘Sympathy makes us realize that we are human. Love makes us a better human.’ p. 36

3.5 /5

The story sets in Pune with the Protagonist, Arun Kumar, a well-known author who travelled to Kolkata for his latest book launch. Events took its turns after he met with a staircase tumble and he eventually needed the assistance from massuese. Lalita is a young survivor of human trafficking who was rescued by Arun. She has played distinctive role, yet her role remained as an undergrown character. I felt the necessity for her character development while the plot is all about herself.

The author emphasises the fact that even when a human trafficking survivor wants to lead a normal life, the way the society treats them is where they fail as human beings. The way a person treats a mere human being or any living being determines how deeply they are from their heart (I didn’t mean any showy mirage here. The genuine gesture of compassion and empathy is what I am referring about).

The book had touched the crucial subject matter like human trafficking. The plot moves at smooth and steady pace. The characters have effectively played along with the plot settings. Characters like Kajal and Vishal had their crucial roles and each character had the opportunity to narrate from each of their perspective. The writing style is simple with the natural flow without any exaggeration, which made the reader to get along with the story. The novel is fast pace one time read.

I recommend this for beginners read.

Happy Reading!
