This book actually evoked my spirit from being a lost reader. It just gives the spark, enough to ignite my quest of good in the disguise of evil.
The story begins with the character Linus Baker, a caseworker for the Department of Charge of Magical Youth (DICOMY). Basically, this organization oversees magically gifted children around the world who are often perceived as freaks or crazies.
Linus’ work is to visit each such orphanage to ensure proper facilities and care for these children with unusual abilities. He submits a detailed report according to the format outlined in the specialized book of Rules and Regulations by DICOMY.
His study observes the unproblematic coexistence of those kids with common people. There begins Mr. Baker’s confidential assignment in the parallel of swiftly changing his monotonous life of the past 40 years. His mission is to visit the orphanage on the island of Cerulean Sea under the guidance of Arthur Parnassus, 45 years old. In this house, he discovers the hidden truth of his entire career and life, by skillfully mastering his destiny before him.
The characters in this novel are well acquainted with their setting they are presented in. Ms. Zoe Chapelwine, the cook and person with social contacts outside the island. She is always on her heels when it comes to the orphanage and its inhabitants. There comes the five kids, Talia, Theodore, Phee, Sal and Chauncey. It will be amusing to read about each kid and their extraordinary possessions.
Among all, Talia is my favorite buddy and it will be hilarious when her presence permeates throughout the novel. Her character warms up the reader with comfort and positivity. Regardless of what the world shows you around, in the end, they all are just kids with unexploited minds. On the whole, you never know what each kid is waiting to unleash.
The language of the novel is beginner-friendly and fast-paced. Thus, it makes a comfort read after being in long reading slump. The writing style is vivid, imaginative and lucid for the idea that the author has just effectively portrayed.
I would like to suggest this novel as a thorough worthy reading experience.
