The novel narrates the story of the protagonist, Anwar from the struggling middle class in the society of Kerala. The novel has been written in first person perspective. The entire narrative focuses on the life of Anwar with the beginning of his father’s days and ending with his financial prosperity.

The novel begins with the prologue of the story, the school reunion and narrates back the readers to 1994 with the massive wreck in the life of the protagonist started. The entire novel covers the vast areas in the perspectives of Anwar at the each stage of his life.

The characterization in the novel is clear and each stands firm on their ground. Characters like Anwar’s father, Priya and Karim Uncle made the story to flow on. Each character has an equal impact on the life of the protagonist. The character of Anwar’s father, Shareef and his segment of narrating the story from his perspective gives the centrepiece of the entire novel.

Whereas Anwar took granted the support and affection of Priya, his colleague and took her aid to thrive in his life. When, Priya needed Anwar for her emotional support, he remained silent. Anwar felt the loss of his pillar support and began to regret his actions when she decided to proceed on her own and got engaged. Anwar’s deed taught him the value of others in his life, and his character began to blossom in his relationships with his friends.

Anwar’s inner thoughts on Priya’s move on and my frustrations on that particular scene!

The intricacies of the incidents have an effects on the plot but often they confuse with the shifting of events which often made me to feel cliffhanger inbetween the pages. The novel has the influence of the biography of a middle-class man who is trying to stand on his own identity. The language and writing style are passive and beginner-friendly. A fine editing could have made a huge impact on the readers. The novel gave a salad-ified experience in the life of a boy from the standpoint of a reader.
