The story opens with the irritated newlywed bride, Ruchika, who is waiting for her mismatched husband, Kabir Singh, to come and sign their divorce decree even before they begin their journey of love. But Kabir had not turned up, which infuriated Ruchika more. After returning to their home, Govind, her cousin, slowly kindles Ruchika to open up about the reason behind her decision to divorce her once best friend. There, the story begins.

This book is the sequel to The Mismatched Bridegroom. As an imperfect bride, it can be easily seen that’s how Ruchika is dumb enough to see the reality before her instead she is gnawing behind the past events. She had really relied on Kabir right from her childhood but still, she hadn’t got him to convey what she really wants. She simply roams around like bubbly, innocent heroine of the story whereas Kabir is being oscillated between the dilemma of his feelings towards her.

The story is a flawless narrative with presentable touches of humour, of course with some Punjabi lines, on which our characters are based. The language is so simple and easy with the flow without any tiring hard words. This book would be an effortless read with fun.

Some lines that caught me:

“Sometimes, let your heart rule. Don’t think so much with your head. What I see, you can’t see, and I do hope by the time you see it, it won’t be too late.” p.78

Being an adult already sucked but being married sure did wipe away even the smallest pleasure she was so used to. p.106

He had added to the distance that already existed between them. He had not made any effort to change her life—to make her fall in love with him as he had fallen for her. p.119

Happy reading!
